Larson and Courtney Applaud Advancement of Tax Relief Plan for Homeowners with Crumbling Foundations

Reps. John B. Larson (CT-01) and Joe Courtney (CT-02) joined with local lawmakers, advocates, and homeowners to applaud last week’s bipartisan passage of H.R. 9500 in the Ways and Means Committee, which includes their Casualty Loss Deduction Restoration Act, and call on House leadership to swiftly bring the bill forward for a vote. Larson and Courtney’s bill would allow homeowners impacted by crumbling foundations due to pyrrhotite to claim the casualty loss deduction for repair costs. The bill would also allow homeowners to retroactively claim the deduction, starting in 2021.
